PORTSMOUTH-- A 50-foot boat sank at its slip at the Ocean Marine Yacht Center on Crawford Parkway in Portsmouth

The Coast Guard says it hasn't been able to reach the boat's owner.

Crews put a containment boom around the boat to keep any pollution from spreading into the Elizabeth River

Since the boat's owner hasn't been located, the cleanup by Hepaco Environmental Services is being paid for through the Oil Spill Liability Trust Fund.

The Coast Guard says the cleanup will begin Friday morning.

The sinking is under investigation. The Virginia Marine Resources Commission, the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality and the Virginia Department of Transportation have been notified.
