NORFOLK-USS New York leaves Norfolk for the last time today.

The ship and crew will now be homeported in Mayport, Florida.

USS New York, a San Antonio-class amphibious transport dock, was built with steel from the World Trade Center. She was commissioned in New York City on Nov. 7, 2009.

The crew is comprised of 332 enlisted sailors, 28 officers and three Marines, the Navy said.

She's the first of three ships that will no longer be in Hampton Roads - USS Iwo Jima and USS Fort McHenry are set to leave Norfolk no later than 2015.
