NEWPORT NEWS -- A man was taken to the hospital after being injured in a two-vehicle crash in Newport News early Thursday.
Around 2 a.m., a dump truck preparing to make a U-turn to go south on Jefferson Avenue was rear-ended by Honda sedan traveling northbound.
The car's driver was trapped and had to be cut free from his vehicle, police stated.
He was taken to the hospital with possible life-threatening injuries, said spokesman Lou Thurston.
As of 4 a.m., northbound Jefferson Avenue is closed at St. Thomas Drive
The crash is being investigated by the Department's Crash Reconstruction Team.
