VIRGINIA BEACH - The Salvation Army Women's Auxiliary's Seventh Annual Holiday Shopping Extravaganza and Fashion Show is Saturday, November 2nd at the Holiday Inn Executive Center in Virginia Beach.
13News Daybreak is very involved in the benefit. The live auction will be hosted by LaSalle Blanks and will feature items such as sports memorabilia, collections of Barbie dolls, trips and getaways. Vanessa Coria returns for her fourth year of hosting the fashion show presented by Nordstrom of MacArthur Center. This year's fashion show will include former Miss America Kylene Barker. Daybreak Traffic Reporter Benita Adams will be modeling.
Tickets to the event are $40 and include lunch and the opportunity to bid on hundreds of great silent auction items and a handful of live auction items. All proceeds from the event will go to benefit Salvation Army programs and services that are offered throughout the year; including, but not limited to, transitional housing for women and children, holiday feeding programs, shelter, youth programs, and Christmas assistance.
To date, more than 100 items have been received for the silent and live auctions. Items for auction include golf passes, sports memorabilia, home decorations, holiday arrangements and more. Live auctions items include a private flight to Tangier Island, a week's stay in a villa on St. Maarten, as well as packages to Outer Banks, NC and Ashville, VA. Ticket sales close on Friday, October 26 at Noon and can be purchased by calling Nannette Motil at 543-8100.
The Salvation Army Women's Auxiliary of Hampton Roads is a dynamic group of women empowering families in need. The organization's mission is to assist The Salvation Army in Hampton Roads with a particular part or all its programs, functioning as a fundraising and volunteer service group. The Women's Auxiliary meets monthly.
