11/27 UPDATE: Police say the man who was killed is 32-year-old Michael Joseph Liszeo, who lived on Princess Anne Road. Police say he wasn't wearing a seat belt.

VIRGINIA BEACH-- Police were on the scene of a fatal accident Tuesday night near the Pungo Ferry Bridge.

According to police spokesman Sgt. Adam Bernstein, the accident happened around 8:30 p.m. when a Chevy Malibu and Chevy Suburban collided.

The Malibu was heading east on Pungo Ferry Road towards the bridge when it drifted off the side of the road, over-corrected and crossed the center line, striking the Suburban heading west, he said.

There were two occupants in the Malibu, a woman driver and an adult male passenger. The male passenger was dead at the scene. The female driver was taken to the hospital with injuries that were not life threatening.

The driver of the Suburban, an adult female, was seriously injured and taken to the hospital. Her injuries were not considered to be life threatening.

No charges have been filed Bernstein said. The accident is still under investigation.
