UPDATE 12/18 3:30 p.m.: Police now say the believe the three Portsmouth robberies were all committed by the same suspects.
PORTSMOUTH -- Portsmouth police are investigating three different armed robberies of convenience stores that happened within a 20-hour period on Tuesday.
Officials say the first one happened around 1:30 AM when two men entered the One Stop convenience store located in the 4700 block of Portsmouth Boulevard, showed a gun and demanded money.
The suspects left the store with about $40.No one inside the business was hurt.
The first suspect is described as a light-skinned black male, approximately 5 feet 10 inches to 6 feet tall and weighs about 160 to 170 pounds. He was wearing a dark-colored hoodie, baggy blue jeans, black sneakers with white trim and a black mask.
The second suspect is described as a black male, approximately 5 feet 5 inches tall and weighs about 140 to 150 pounds. He was wearing a black 'hoodie', black jeans and white sneakers. He was also wearing a red bandanna across his face.
The second robbery happened at the OldTown Food Mart in the 1500 block of Portsmouth Boulevard.In that one, two suspects entered the business wearing masks, dressed in all black. They showed a gun and demanded money.
Suspects left that store with money and cell phones. Nobody was hurt.
The third incident happened about two hours later at the My Neighbors FoodMart in the 4200 block ofGreenwood Drive. In that case, suspects with the same description as the robbery at Old Town Food Mart showed a gun and got away with money.Nobody was hurt.
