RALEIGH,NC- A #16 seed has never beat a number one seed. That history is on the side of the Virginia Cavaliers as they head into their second round NCAAtournament match up with Coastal Carolina on Friday night.

Virginia's two senior starters, Joe Harris and Akil Mitchell, addressed the media before UVa's open practice at PNCArena.

Harris downplayed the importance of UVa getting the number one seed in the East region. 'That number next to you doesn't mean anything at all', Harris said.

UVa returns to 'March Madness' two years after falling to Florida in the 2012 tourney. Mitchell says there has been quite a bit of growth since then. 'This team has a lot more confidence than two years ago...we are playing good basketball.'

Mitchell credits ACCcoach of the year Tony Bennett with the team's success this year.'Coach Bennett worked really hard to establish a brand of basketball...a hard nosed defensive brand of basketball.', Mitchell said.

The Cavaliers take on Coastal Carolina Friday night at 9:25 p.m.They game will be televised on TBS.
