CHESAPEAKE -- A man was shot early Monday in Chesapeake.

A Portsmouth police officer pulled over a car around 2:15 a.m. and realized the driver had been wounded.

Investigators determined the man had been shot in Chesapeake near the 7-Eleven in the 3200 block of Western Branch Blvd. He was able to make it to an apartment complex on Bickford Lane before being stopped by Portsmouth Police.

Officers from both cities gathered in the parking lot of the store to discuss the investigation.

The victim, who hasn't been identified, was taken to the hospital for treatment of gunshots to the arm and chest, according to officers.
