9:30 a.m. UPDATE: The woman has been identified as 29-year-old Victoria Little from Williamston,NC.

'She was lying in the northbound lanes and was struck by the vehicle that did not stop or remain at scene,' From 1st Sgt. M W. Warren told 'She did not have any ID on her when she was found.'
Medical examiner will work to determine how she died.

BERTIE COUNTY, NC -- Authorities are trying to identify a woman found dead in the road in Bertie Co., North Carolina.

According to WCTI-TV, a passerby called investigators around 3 a.m. Sunday after seeing a body on Highway 13/17 North in Windsor.

The reports there's a tattoo on the woman's leg that says Vicki.

The Roanoke-Chowan News Herald says NC Highway Patrol officials say the woman is African American, about 300 pounds and 5'-5' to 5'-8' tall with the name 'Vickie' tattooed on her leg.
