VIRGINIA BEACH The warehouse on Virginia Beach Boulevard could be mistaken for the North Pole.

Stacks and stacks of toys came from generous joy fund donations and the hard working Marine's 'toys for tots.' Sgt. Derek Reynolds has been hard at work directing everyone.

'It's honestly extremely overwhelming. The Marines are very grateful for all the donations, and we're just working here to get them all out to the kids.'

All the gifts are part of the Angel Tree program that WVEC-TV has been a part of for 28 years. Some 8,000 families this year or 20,000 children will receive gifts and clothing. The Salvation Army will hand out the toys.

Monday parents will come through to pick up the donated gifts for their children. 'It's very important because we're only here for a week and a half. If they have an appointment they need to come down and see the Salvation Army to make sure their gifts are set aside,' Captain Mary Meredith explained.
