RICHMOND-- A bill that would allow Virginia Beach to raise cash to help pay for an arena passed the House of Delegates on Tuesday. The bill now goes to the Governor's desk for his signature.

The State Senate passed Delegate Ron Vilenueva's HB 2320 last week but not before making some changes.

The Senate stripped the portion of the bill allowing a special income tax on any pro sports team that might take up occupancy there. That tax essentially on players was one way the city was hoping to pull the project off.

The amended bill does allow for raising money from a special sales tax at an arena on things like beer and sodas.

Governor Bob McDonnell is expected to sign the bill. .
