CHESAPEAKE - Saturday will be the 36th annual Chesapeake Shrine Club Oyster Roast.

More than 2500 people are expected to fill up on raw, roasted and fried oysters, fish, clam chowder, baked beans, hush puppies, cole slaw, fries and a drink. Proceeds help the Khedive Temple, which provides free transportation for those in need to and from the hospitals for treatments.

The roast is from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Khedive Shrine Center at 645 Woodlake Drive in Chesapeake and officials say it will go on rain or shine.

The roast was chosen as one Chesapeake`s 50 events as the city celebrates its 50th anniversary.

Tickets are $30.00 in advance and $35.00 at the gate. You can get one from any Shrine member, any Bank of Hampton Roads or the Shrine Center on Woodlake Drive.
