NORFOLK--A man with a child in his vehicle wouldn't stop when police tried to pull over his car Friday night.

50-year-old Jerome W. Hodges drove away from police when they tried to stop him at Delaware and Maryland avenues, so police went after him.

The pursuit ended a short time later when his vehicle struck a utility pole on Church Street and came to a stop on Goff Street.

Police say Hodges bailed out of the car, leaving a young boy alone in the car.

Hodges is charged with abuse/neglect of children, hit and run-unattended vehicle, driving with a suspended/revoked license and eluding police.
