They extended their search towards the Hampton Roads Bridge-Tunnel and towards the Veterans Administration Hospital. Authorities say they haven't received any reports of a missing person.

UPDATE: In a statement, police wrote, 'At 2:06 p.m., we suspended our efforts and will continue to monitor the situation. HAMPTON-Police are working to recover a man's body from the water in Hampton.

Cpl. Mary Shackelford says officers were called to the area of the Fort Monroe bridge near Phoebus around 7:30 a.m.

'A citizen called to report seeing a body in the water,' she said.

The Mugler Bridge is closed as authorities work to bring the body to shore.

Shackelford says it's too early to know who the person is, how he died or whether a crime was committed.

Also involved in the recovery are the Hampton Fire Department and the Virginia Marine Patrol.
