VIRGINIA BEACH -- The third dog park in Virginia Beach is now open.
It's at Bayville Farms Park, located at 4132 First Court Road. Park officials say it's the first with separate areas for large and small dogs in the one-acre fenced area.
Construction began in January and there's still a little more work that needs to be done, like add some concrete pads for trash cans and the water fountain, Rick Rowe, the Parks and Natural Areas coordinator, told WVEC.com.
You have to register on site to use this or any of the city's dog park. It's $15 for the first dog; $10 for each dog after that and you have to have proof that it's licensed and a documented expiration date of dog's rabies vaccination.
The other City of Virginia Beach dog parks are located at Red Wing Park at 1398 General Booth Blvd. and Woodstock Park at 5709 Providence Rd.
The next dog park is tentatively planned at Marshview Park near Resort/Norfolk Avenue area, Rowe added.
He said it's part of future planning for Phase II renovations, but design work and funding is still pending.
