CHESAPEAKE -- A 17-year-old was assaulted Saturday in the Greenbrier Mall parking lot while trying to protect his girlfriend, authorities said Thursday.
According to police, the teenager and his girlfriend were walking from Dillard's department store towards River Birch Run around 11:30 p.m. when four males pulled up alongside them.
Police said one of the boys asked the girl to get in their car. The victim asked them to leave. Then three of the males got out of the car and said they would leave if the girlfriend gave them a hug.
That's when police say the 17-year-old was assaulted. He was taken to the hospital where he was treated for facial cuts and bruising as well as a broken jaw.
Police say the four were driving a white, four-door car, possibly an older model.
