NORFOLK -- A Virginia Beach man had a loaded 9mm gun in his carry-on bag at Norfolk International Airport, according to the Transportation Security Administration.

He was stopped at the security checkpoint on Wednesday and screeners say they took the gun, which was loaded with seven rounds, including one in the chamber.

The TSA officer detected the handgun as the bag passed along the conveyor belt, officials stated.

The man was cited on a state weapons charge.

TSA says it was the seventh gun that its officers have caught at the checkpoint this year.
