NEWPORT NEWS-Video cameras are everywhere. People see something, they take a video.

At some crime scenes, people often record a police officer's every move. Now some Hampton Roads localities are recording the action, too. They're using body cameras, clipped to an officer's lapel or glasses. When an officer moves, the camera moves, too.

Police believe the cameras will protect officers from bogus complaints and protect the public from unprofessional officers.

'I'm a firm believer that an impartial eye whenever possible is best. A camera has no opinions,' said Windsor Police Chief Vic Reynolds.

That's not to say traditional dashboard cameras are going away. It's just the latest tool in an officer's arsenal.

Are they effective? How good is the video? We'll show you on 13News Now at 6.
