JAMES CITY COUNTY -- Investigators are working to determine what started the fire that damaged a home in James City County.

Crews were called to the home on Hampton Key in Kingsmill around 3 a.m. Tuesday. They arrived to find flames and smoke rising from the gable end of the attic over the garage.

The fire was brought under control in about half an hour, fire officials said.

There is fire, smoke and water damage in the 3,800 square foot, two-story home.

In all, 16 fire and EMS units from James City County and Williamsburg responded.

No one was hurt in the fire.
