PORTSMOUTH--Police are looking for two suspects they say are passing counterfeit bills.

On two different occasions, counterfeit currency turned up at the BP Amoco Gas Station in the 4100 block of George Washington Highway. At the time the bills were passed, the authenticity was not checked or noted by the employee. Detectives with the Economic Police say two suspects were responsible for passing the fake bills.

The two incidents happened on Feb. 6th and 7th and in both cases, the suspects asked for change to bills totalling $100.

Later in the day on the 7th, the employee checked the bills with a counterfeit detection pen. All of the bills were counterfeit. It was discovered that several of the twenty dollar bills the store was given contained the same serial number.

There was also a fake one-hundred dollar bill passed The bill along with thirteen twenty dollar bills were turned over to police pending an investigation.
