7/24 UPDATE: Police say the driver, 26-year-old Quartray Dowell, has been charged with two counts of Felony Hit & Run, Felony Eluding Police, Damaged Property and was served with a Probation Violation warrant that was on file.
One of two passengers, 29-year-old Demetrius Freeman, was charged with Obstruction of Justice.
The second passenger was released, police stated.

CHESAPEAKE -- A police car and a pick-up truck were struck by a vehicle that tried to elude police in Chesapeake.

Officer Kelly O'Sullivan says an officer stopped the SUV at Atlantic and Martin avenues in South Norfolk around 10:20 a.m.

As the officer was talking to the driver, he put the vehicle in gear, hit the police vehicle and drove off, she said.

Officers pursued the vehicle to the 200 block of Haviland Road in Greenbrier, where it ran into a pick-up truck.

The driver and two passengers ran off, but were caught soon after, O'Sullivan said.

The driver of the pick-up truck was not hurt.

The names of those involved haven't been released.

The investigation into the incident continues.
