NORFOLK -- A Va. Beach used car dealer is on the Navy's 'off limits' list.
Tidewater Auto Broker at 5004 Virginia Beach Blvd. was put on the list for bird-dogging, in violation of Virginia law, the Navy said Friday.
Bird-dogging is a practice in which dealers pay people who refer customers to them.
According to Commander, Navy Region Mid-Atlantic, the decision was made on the advice and recommendation from the Joint Armed Forces Disciplinary Control Board.
The board has members from each military service and civilian advisers from commands in Hampton Roads. It works with law enforcement and businesses to prevent unfair and criminal practices against military members.
