NORFOLK -- You can help the City of Norfolk plan the future of The Waterside Festival Marketplace.

An online survey asks your opinion about what you'd like to see at the downtown waterfront attraction.

City Council will use the results and a series of public meetings to determine the new focus, city spokesman Charles Hartig said.

Last month, Mayor Paul Fraim announced a 10-month-long effort to get public input so Council could make a decision on what to do with the propertyearly in 2011.

Deadline for the survey is April 30 and anyone can submit their ideas.

The survey was posted on the City of Norfolk Website on February 14 and is also on the Waterside Website.

Waterside opened in June 1983 and was the catalyst for the rebirth of downtown Norfolk. In recent years, crime and vacancies have hurt its iimage.
