NORFOLK-- Henry McIntosh did not act his age.

Saturday afternoon, police say a man robbed his barbershop on Church Street and shot the 86-year-old man.

McIntosh died Sunday morning.

'The way you could tell he was here? You'd smell that wood stove fired up,' Ed Forbes said outside the Square Deal barbshop Monday morning.

McIntosh was also a landlord, an animal lover and would still climb a ladder every Christmas to string up lights at his home.

His wife of 31 years is now a widow.

At 86, he arrived to work at his barbershop every day by 5:30 in the morning.

'I always told him be careful, drive slow, have a safe day,' Helen McIntosh said. 'I didn't know that this would be the end.'

Authorities on Tuesday released a composite of the man they believe killed McIntosh. He's black,25-35 years old, 5'8' 5'10', 140 - 160lbs, with a mustache and beard. The gunman wore a black baseball cap, dark sunglasses, white tank top, jeans that are frayed at the bottom of the pant leg, and low cut tennis shoes. He also was carrying a black tote bag.
