NEWPORT NEWS- Two air conditioning units were stolen from a locked and fenced area at a community outreach group in Newport News.

Moton Community House helps those in need in the Southeast community.

'That someone would come to a free facility and steal air conditioning, it just puts a damper on something positive. It just doesn't make sense to me,' said Youth coordinator Angela Harris.

Police say the theft occurred between 4:00 P.M. on September 11 and 9:00 a.m. on September 12 and was discovered when the director got there on Wednesday.

To make matters worse workers at Moton were selling bottled water to raise money to maintain the a-c units.

If you know anything about the thefts, call Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP.
