RICHMOND - Even though many localities were closed Monday because of Hurricane Sandy, Virginia State Police kept busy helping drivers who ventured out in the storm.
Across the state,from midnightSunday to2:00 p.m. Monday, troopersresponded to 377 traffic crashes, 438 disabled vehicles, and received a total of 3,154 calls for service.
Spokeswoman Sgt. Michelle Anaya said there were no fatalities reported.
While more rain and heavy winds are expected through Tuesday, all available troopers will be on the highwaysto help withcrashes and storm-related incidents.
Va. State Police advise drivers toavoid traveling during the stormbecauseconditionsremain hazardous.
