UPDATE: Jamiel Douglas Graves pleaded guilty in Norfolk Circuit Court Monday, April 7, to one count of capital murder.
He was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole, the Commonwealth's Attorney said.
The case against Graves for the murder of his ex-girlfriend, Mandi Myers, in Virginia Beach is pending.
At a hearing Wednesday, the judge turned the scheduled July trial into a motions hearing to give both sides more time to develop their case.
The Commonwealth's Attorney's office says no decision has been made on whether to pursue the death penalty in the case.
NORFOLK -The body found in a Norfolk duplex on Tuesday is that of a young mother who'd been missing for nearly two months, according to police.
Phylicia Robinson's remains were found in a closet in 29-year-old Jamiel Graves' apartment by his mother. Robinson had lived in the other unit.
Police say Graves has been charged with murder in the death of Robinson.
A neighbor said she was concerned about some of Graves' behavior.
'I know that he struggled with the depression. While back, there was a point where he was just in his pajamas all the time, around the house, very depressed, not wanting to come out,' said Tina Owens.
Robinson hadn't been heard from since the night of October 3 and police said they found her personal belongings in her home.
Robinson's sister Katisha Oakley said in a statement, 'As of this moment we are all experiencing indescribable pain. I am at a loss for words. We lost a great young woman who was a daughter, sister, mother and friend. Phylicia was taken from us way too son and for no reason at all.'
Graves is also accused of killing his ex-girlfriend, Mandi Myers, on Monday. Her body was found in her Va. Beach apartment.
Police say Graves stole Myers' car and a firearm, but the stolen weapon was not used in the homicide.
Authorities later found Myers' vehicle and gun and arrested Graves.
He's being held in Virginia Beach facing several charges including second degree murder of Myers.
