NEWPORT NEWS (AP) -- A Hampton man has been sentenced to five years and six months in prison stemming from a drug deal that led to a shootout among several suspects.
24-year-old Randell Lamont Woods was sentenced Monday in federal court for conspiracy to distribute cocaine.
Court documents show that more than two dozen gunshots were exchanged between suspects during the drug deal that Woods was involved in at a Hampton store parking lot in December 2011. Woods and another suspect surrendered to Hampton police after a seven-hour standoff at a nearby motel.
Two other suspects received prison time for their involvement in the shootout.
