PORTSMOUTH-- Portsmouth police are searching for murder suspect who failed to appear in court Monday and is now considered a fugitive.

Jason Christopher McCoy, 26, is currently wanted by police on contempt of court for failing to appear in a Portsmouth Circuit Court.

Police say McCoy is one of three individuals indicted in the 2005 shooting death of 28 year-old Terrace Wilson.

According to police, Terrace Wilson was in his vehicle in the 2300 block of Rodman Avenue, when three males approached. All three suspects were wearing masks, and were attempting to rob the victim. Before Wilson could drive away from the area, one of the suspects shot him. He died at the scene.

Earlier this year, the two co-defendants, Jamar Devon Riddick and Terry Termaine Bullock were convicted of Terrace Wilson's murder.

Police say McCoy has connections in Portsmouth, Norfolk, Suffolk and Virginia Beach. He is also known to frequent Charlotte, North Carolina.

McCoy should be considered dangerous.
