SUFFOLK -- A student at Nansemond River High School in Suffolk has been suspended for allegedly bringing a magazine clip to school.

A letter from the principal was sent out to parents, Monday, outlining the incident which took place on Jan. 10.

Suffolk Police were alerted after a parent contacted the school to advise he was informed by his son that the student was seen with a gun in the boys locker room that afternoon.

Officers responded to the campus and began their search.

Police were unable to locate a gun, but did find a unloaded magazine clip from a 'BB' type gun inside the student's bookbag.The student was immediately removed from class.

School officials told 13News Now a disciplinary hearing has not been set.

Nobody was theatened or injured during the incident.

An investigation is still underway.
