NEWPORT NEWS-Two people were wounded when two groups of people reportedly opened fire at each other early Wednesday.

Officers on patrol heard gunfire in area of 1000 block of 32nd Street around 12:25 a.m., said spokesman Lou Thurston.

Calls were also made to police dispatchers.

The officers determined that some of those involved went inside a home on 32nd Street.

The two victims, a 21-year-old man and a 19-year-old man were taken to the hospital for treatment and should be okay, Thurston noted.

The circumstances of the shooting weren't immediately known and no suspects have been identified or arrested.
