NORFOLK, VA- Norfolk slugged four home runs, Julio Borbon drove in four and Eddie Gamboa turned in eight strong innings as the Tides surged to a 12-4 win over the Lehigh Valley IronPigs Wednesday night at Harbor Park.

One night after being limited to two runs in a doubleheader sweep, Norfolk's offense returned to its May form by collecting 16 hits eight of which went for extra bases. The Tides plated a run in every inning from the second through the sixth, including a six-run second inning in which Norfolk collected two singles, two doubles, a triple and a home run.

The 12-run outburst was the seventh time in May that the Tides have scored ten runs or more after not accomplishing the feat once in April. Norfolk has now plated a league-best 169 runs this month the highest scoring month for the Tides since monthly statistics became available in 2004.

Gamboa (3-4) was the beneficiary of the offensive attack, although the 29-year-old knuckleballer did not need much help. Gamboa faced the minimum through the first five innings (walking one) before Leandro Castro broke up the no-hitter with a first pitch double leading off the sixth inning.

Gamboa allowed two runs on two hits over a career-high eight innings, as he walked two and struck out six. He threw 62 of his 102 pitches for strikes as he helped Norfolk snap a three-game skid.

Xavier Paul homered twice and drove in three, becoming the first Tides player to homer twice in a game this season. Borbon finished a double short of the cycle, as he belted a two-run triple in the second inning and a two-run homer in the fourth. Buck Britton was also a hit short of the cycle, as he homered in the third, doubled in the sixth and singled in the eighth.
