6/17 UPDATE: The victim has been identified as 68-year-old Dorothy Beasley, according to Norfolk police. The cause of her death is still under investigation.


NORFOLK-- Foul play is suspected in a fatal house fire Wednesday night.

Firefighters were called around 6:15 p.m. to a house fire in the 3400 block of Vivian Street, according to Fire Chief Julian Williamson.

Smoke was seen coming from the one-story home when crews arrived on scene. Upon entering the house, firefighters discovered the body of a woman inside. The identity of the victim has not been released.

Williamson said that foul play was suspected and fire marshals and homicide detectives were on scene investigating.

A cause of death has not been released.
