VIRGINIA BEACH -- A Norfolk man is behind bars after he was caught with $27,000 worth of marijuana in his SUV.

An officer was conducting a routine traffic stop on I-264 near Mt. Trashmore around 1 p.m. Friday, according to Sgt. Michelle Anaya with the Virginia State Police. When the officer made contact with the driver of the 2001 GMC Denali, he noticed a strong odor of marijuana coming the vehicle.

The trooper then conducted a search and located five pounds of marijuana inside. The driver, identified as Randy Lamont Baker, was also found to have $2,900 in cash on his person.

Baker was arrested at the scene and charged with possession with intent to distribute and speeding. He is currently being held at the City of Virginia Beach jail without bond.
