DARE COUNTY -- A pursuit Wednesday night ended with the arrest of a Dare County man on 24 charges including assault and drug charges.
26-year-old David Allen Lee was charged in a Dare County Narcotics Task Force investigation.
Authorities say they tried to stop his car around 6:50 p.m. in Wanchese but he wouldn't stop. Officers pursued the vehicle on Highway 345, across the bridges on the Nags Head Causeway to the 64/158/NC12 intersection at Whalebone, where he turned north on 158.
The vehicle reversed direction near the Dairy Queen in Nags Head where the suspect rammed a Dare Sheriff's vehicle, said Chief Deputy Steve Hoggard.
Lee was arrested at the scene; one officer was treated for a minor injury, Hoggard noted.
Lee is charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, sell or deliver heroin (2 Counts), possession with the intent to manufacture/sell or deliver heroin (2 Counts), resist public officer (9 Counts), flee or elude arrest with motor vehicle, damage to personal property and speeding (2 Counts). 6 other Motor Vehicle Violations
