It was mission accomplished for the Cox boys soccer team. The Falcons beat Battlefield 2-1 to claim their second straight title and finish the season 25-0. Drew Hartell and Chris Albisdon accounted for the goals as Cox also lays claim to number one in country by an ESPN boys soccer poll.

The Jamestown boys tennis team got their first ever state title by knocking off 3-time defending champ, Western Albermarle 5-4. With the match tied 4-4, Jamestown's duo of J.J. Wilroy and Michael Reso rallied from a set down to clinch the match with a 5-7, 7-5, 6-3 triumph on court three. Eliott Mee and Miles Neilson won the other doubles match for Jamestown with a 6-4, 6-2 decision at the top spot. Jamestown dropped its only other State Championship appearance to Western Albemarle in 2007.

At the state finals in baseball, Poquoson will have to wait a day. The Islanders game with Potomac was postponed due to rain and will be played Sunday morning at 11am.
