SUFFOLK -- A couple found dead in their Suffolk home Tuesday afternoon were victims of a murder-suicide, according to police.

Kathryn Laine, 47, and Stephen Laine, 50, were found by their 16-year-old son, who had come home from school. He called police, who arrived at the Lookout Circle home around 3:30 p.m.

Police spokesperson Debbie George said Mr. Laine apparently died of carbon monoxide poisoning. He was found in the garage.

Wednesday afternoon, police reported that Kathryn died from stab wounds that were inflicted by her husband.

The windows of the house were open Tuesday evening to air it out while investigators continued to search for clues.

The couple lived in the home with their two children. They children are staying with friends and family. They are students of Nansemond Suffolk Academy.
