MANTEO, N.C. The U.S. Marshals Service, Eastern District of North Carolina,says four people were arrested as they checked on registered sex offenders.

Authorities from Dare, Hyde, Tyrrell, and Washington counties along with US Marhals took part in Operation Pharos on Tuesday.

They visited the homes of 95 registered sex offenders and, by the end of the day, four people were arrested on various charges and three firearms were seized, they said at a Thursday press conference.

'We will utilize all available resources to seek out individuals attempting to avoid prosecution and we will work tirelessly to ensure the community and the children of the community are safe from sex offenders,' said Scott Park with the US Marshals Service for the Eastern District of North Carolina.

49-year-old Gregory Todd Richardson of Duck, NC is charged with failing to report a change of address; 29-year-old Martin L. Hardy Jr of Manteo was arrested on an indictment for forgery of an instrument and uttering forged instrument;41-year-old Eric Sykes of Columbia was charged with having a gun; 40-year-old Marcus Shaw of Engelhard was arrested on a warrant for not paying child support.
