ISLE OF WIGHT -- 'Stopped 'em dead still with nothing. I broke like this, like I had a gun. I said I'm gonna blow your so-and-so-in' brains out, and they stopped,' recalled Richard Waters.

The stoppage inside his home on Sandy Ridge Drive was only temporary.

2 people burst into the house through its front door as Waters sat in the back of the home watching television. He said it was about 15 minutes after a cousin left.

One person had a pistol and hammer; the other robber had a shotgun. Waters said that second, taller attacker hit him with the shotgun.

'He told me to shut the (EXPLETIVE) up, and I said, 'Why y'all would rob a old man?' 'Shut the (EXPLETIVE) up, before I blow your brains out!'' Waters told 13News Now. 'After he hit me upside the head, I just sat back and didn't say anything else.'

Waters gave them money he had to pay bills and told them that was the only cash in they house. They didn't believe him and proceeded to tear apart the home.

''Oh, if I find some money, I'm gonna blow your brains out.' I said, 'Well, blow my brains out, then. Go on and shoot me, 'cause there ain't no mo' money in this house,'' remembered Waters of an exchange that took place.

He told 13News Now the robbers doused his cell and a home phone with water in the kitchen sink so they'd be useless. They threw a chair down to make it difficult for him to get help. Waters, who uses a walker, has use of one arm. He managed to move the chair after they left and went to a neighbor's home for help.

'They need to be caught. He did say, 'Well, old man, this is my job. This is what I do.' Well, they must be robbing somewhere else,' said Waters. 'Give 'em life if it's possible, you know. I ain't going in none of your house, and doin' no foolish there, and junk like that.'

The first robber is described as a black male between 20 and 30 years old, 6 feet 2 inches tall, 180 pounds and was wearing a ski-mask, knee-length trench coat, black boots and latex gloves.

The second robber is a black male between 20 and 30 years old, 5 feet 2 inches tall, 120 pounds and was wearing a ski-mask, blue-checkered shirt, blue jeans and latex gloves.
