UPDATE 2/19: Police have made a second arrest in the murder of nightclub owner Issac Oshin.

Brandon Heath Morris, 25, was charged Friday with principal in the 2nd degree to murder.

Police say Morris drove the getaway car.


UPDATE 2/14 10:35 AM- Newport News Police have made an arrest in the murder of nightclub owner Issac Oshin. Rashad Ashlock, 22, of Newport News was arrested Thursday night near 25th Street and Jefferson Avenue.

He has a preliminary hearing set for April 30, according to the Newport News General District Court docket.

Police say Ashlock shot and killed 56-year-old Oshin in the doorway of Majik City Gentleman's Club Wednesday. Police are still looking for other suspects.

Witnesses told investigators there had been an altercation inside the club with the owner of the business. A short time later a car pulled into the parking lot and one person got out and shot the victim.

Ashlock was taken into custody less than two hours after warrants were issued for his arrest. He was located when police responded to reports of shots being fired in the Southeast community. As Ashlock was being questioned, it soon became apparent there was a warrant out for his arrest.

Ashlock is charged with first degree murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.


UPDATE 8:20 p.m.: The victim has been identified as the owner of the club, Issac Ubangi Oshin, 56, with a last known address in the 4400 block of Templar Avenue in Portsmouth.


NEWPORT NEWS- A fight that ended in gunfire left one person dead at a Newport News gentleman's club.

Police were called to Majik City Gentleman's Club in the 5800 block of Jefferson Avenue around 1:45 a.m. They found the 56-year-old victim dead of a gunshot to his torso, said police spokesman Lou Thurston.

He says early information from witnesses indicates there'd been an altercation inside the club and that the suspects left in a red car. They soon returned, got into another dispute at the club entrance and that's when someone opened fire.

The victim's name hasn't been released, but authorities say his last known address was in Portsmouth.
