PORTSMOUTH -- The London Blvd. South off-ramp from Rt. 58 West in Portsmouth is closed and will stay that way for up to a year.

It's part of construction on the Martin Luther King Freeway Extension.

Elizabeth River Tunnels crews will reconstruct the Rt. 58 West off-ramp to London Blvd. South and build a temporary London Blvd. North on-ramp to Rt. 58 East in preparation for the next traffic configuration. Traffic traveling toward London Blvd. South will detour North onto High St. to London Blvd.

The MLK Extension, which provides direct access between the Downtown and Midtown tunnels, will get new changeable message signs.

A schedule of the closures and alternate routes can be found on Elizabeth River Tunnels Web site.
