4/24 UPDATE: Police released surveillance video of the suspect in the bank on April 11. It shows him wearing sunglasses and standing inside at the door, looking around several times, at the counter with the clerk and then leaving.
NEWPORT NEWS -- Police are investigating a Newport News bank robbery Friday afternoon.

Police spokesman Lou Thurston says a suspect entered a BB&T Bank on Jefferson Avenue around 2:30 p.m., implied he had a weapon, stole cash and ran from the bank.

The suspect is described as a black male, 5'11' tall, slim build and was wearing a blue shirt and jeans. Thurston says the suspect may have had a hat on and something orange around his neck.
