VIRGINIA BEACH -- The storm blew through Hampton Roads, leaving dozens of homeowners with a mess to clean up.

Michelle Lovelace of Virginia Beach emailed photos of atree limb that snapped on their oak tree, barely missing their house and the neighbor's house.

'We lost power around 7:30 p.m. until sometime after 11 .... and the tree down... was quite the winds,' she told

Tracy, a 13News Now viewer, posted on the WVEC13 Facebook page a photo of a tree that crashed onto cars parked at her home in Virginia Beach.

'Feeling lucky, though, no one was hurt!,' she said.

Virginia Beach Police said they received calls about trees down and branches breaking off from 8 p.m. to around midnight Wednesday. Authorities say they responded to several locations: stretches of Shore Drive, Five Forks Road, Broad Meadows Blvd., Stephney Lane and Kildeer Court.

Downed trees were responsible for knocking out power across the ABC 13 viewing area. Dominion Power said at the height of the storm Tuesday night, about 10,000 customers were without power.
