VIRGINIA BEACH -- The dive team is at work in a Virginia Beach neighborhood still reeling from recent violence.

Police spokeswoman Tonya Borman said the team is at Lake Edward for a 'recovery operation near West Hasting Arch ... as part of an ongoing investigation.'

Borman added that a tip didn't lead them to the search area and that evidence recoveries happen routinely when there is water near a crime scene.

'If we have any type of report of a crime, our detectives will do whatever they can to recover any type of evidence that can be used,' Borman said.

Yellow tape has been put up as the team works. Police, dive team trucks and EMS vehicles have been at the lake all morning.

There have been three homicides in the Lake Edward subdivision this month, two that happened just seven hours apart.

'We have two cases that our detectives are still actively pursuing to bring closure to. So with this body of water near the vicinity, the detectives reached out to our dive team to see if they could locate anything that might be useful in this investigation,' Borman said.

Authorities say divers have not yet recovered evidence in Lake Edward.
