YORK COUNTY -- York County Public Schools has a new superintendent - temporarily.

The School Board Monday night unanimously selected Dr. Carl L. James to take the job effective July 1.

Current superintendent Dr. Eric Williams is leaving to take the top job with Loudoun County Public Schools.

Dr. James has worked for the York County School Division for 41 years, with the last 25 of those years in various administrative roles. He has held the position of Chief Operations Officer for the Division since 2008.

The search continues for a permanent superintendent. The Board hopes to fill the job later this year.
