SUFFOLK -- A Suffolk mother has been charged after she allegedly tried to run somebody over while her children were unrestrained in the backseat.

According to police, the incident happened Saturday around 10:30 p.m. at the intersection of 6th Street and Truman Road.

Police charged 23-year-old Kenya Celestine Parker with abuse and neglect.

Parker's two sons, ages 2 and 3, weren't restrained or in carseats, police said. They were placed in the care of a family member.

The investigation is ongoing.
