Motorcyclist seriously injured during morning crash in Norfolk

NORFOLK, Va. (WVEC) -- A motorcyclist is fighting for his life after a collision with a car on Granby Street.

The crash happened around 7:20 a.m. in the 7000 block of Granby Street, between Thole Street and Hall Road. That's near Granby High School.

Investigators say the cyclist was ejected from his bike after he was struck by a Honda sedan that was attempting to turn.

The motorcyclist is listed in critical condition and is being treated at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.

The driver of the Honda was not injured and remained at the scene.

As of 11:45 a.m., two southbound lanes of Granby Street, from Thole Street to Sinclair Street, have been reopened following the Traffic Fatality Team investigation.

Police say charges are pending the conclusion of the investigation.
