ISLE OF WIGHT COUNTY, Va. (WVEC) -- A man was airlifted to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital on Friday after a two-car collision in Isle of Wight County.
The county sheriff's office, along with fire and rescue crews, responded to the crash in the 13000 block of Courthouse Highway, just south of the intersection with Route 60, at 5:01 a.m.
An investigation found that a 22-year-old man driving a Honda Coupe was heading north on Courthouse Highway when he lost control and collided with a Cadillac SUV traveling in the southbound lanes.
The driver of the Honda was taken by Nightingale to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital with serious injuries, the Sheriff's Office says.
The driver of the Cadillac was taken by rescue crews to Riverside Hospital with minor injuries.
Virginia State Police is working with the Isle of Wight County Sheriff's Office to investigate the crash. Investigators say speed may have been a factor.
