Atlanta airport outage has slight impact on Norfolk Int'l Airport flights

A power outage caused by an electrical fire at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport forced Delta Airlines to cancel flights, creating problems for travelers including many at Norfolk International Airport.

NORFOLK, Va. (WVEC) -- Hundreds of flights were canceled and delayed after a weekend outage that left thousands of travelers stranded at the Hartsfield-Jackson airport in Atlanta.

The outage had a ripple effect nationwide, which carried through to a few flights at Norfolk International Airport.

As of Monday morning, a couple of Delta flights were canceled and one was delayed, but many ran on time.

A 6:21 a.m. flight to New York was canceled and so was a 7:00 a.m. flight to Atlanta.

13News Now reporter Niko Clemmons spoke with several travelers trying to kick off their vacations just days before Christmas.

One man's flight to Milwaukee was canceled and a family had to rebook their Delta flight to Hawaii.

However, since power has been restored to Hartsfield-Jackson, officials say everything should be back in order soon.
