NORFOLK, Va. (WVEC) -- Traffic signals at one Norfolk intersection have some drivers puzzled.
A viewer alerted 13News Now that a traffic light on North Military Highway at Hoggard Road appears to prompt drivers to turn the wrong way onto a one-way street.
"I can't make a left there, but there's cars over there, so... what do I do?" asked one driver.
Some are concerned that if it's not fixed soon, it could become a big safety hazard.
"Let's get rid of it," said driver Richard Gregory. "That's the remedy. Get rid of it, and just use the regular lane and just go straight."
Plus, we learned that Hoggard Road isn't even really a one-way street. So, we brought this to the attention of Norfolk city officials and they immediately looked into it.
"The sign, actually, was just turned around on the pole," said Trista Fayton with the City of Norfolk. "It should be on the opposite side of the pole."
They've made fixing the problem a top priority.
"We've already dispatched staff out to fix the sign, so it should happen sometime early today," Fayton said.
The matter should be resolved here soon. However, if you come across another intersection with the same issue: "Pay attention to the light, and know which way to turn," Fayton advised.
If you see any other problems on the road around the city, call the Norfolk Cares Center at 757-664-6510.
